Misha places significant emphasis on building enduring relationships with clients on both a professional and personal level. In his experience, understanding the commercial aspects of his clients’ business is equally important to success in and out of the courtroom as mastering the legal arguments.
He is recognized for his proficiency in handling complex litigation and developing creative solutions to effectively navigate his clients’ legal and business matters. He represents clients in the maritime, energy, construction, and automobile industries, as well as routinely serves as captive counsel in furtherance of his clients’ interests inside and outside of the courtroom. Misha has served as trial counsel on numerous high-profile matters and provided strategic guidance on post-incident investigations pursued by various governmental agencies.
Marine and energy. Misha assists his marine and energy industry clients prevent and resolve a broad range of disputes. As part of his broad marine practice, Misha regularly represents vessel and terminal interests in personal injury claims by seamen, longshoremen, and others working within admiralty jurisdiction. He also frequently handles claims arising from vessel collisions, allisions, environmental incidents, demurrage, and charterparty disputes.
Casualty investigations. Misha also frequently serves as the first responder in investigating catastrophic events and provides his clients proactive business strategies to avoid litigation. Misha has also represented clients in investigations by the United States Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Products liability, consumer actions, and automotive. Another aspect of Misha’s practice is his recognized subject-matter expertise in automotive product liability and consumer actions. His experience in protecting his clients’ interests from such claims and representing clients before the administrative tribunals governing the automotive industry makes him adept to resolve issues unique to the industry.
Construction litigation, toxic torts, and trade secrets. Finally, Misha has experience handling construction-related disputes, toxic tort claims, and trade secret litigation. He has also recovered millions of dollars for his construction clients by successfully prosecuting mechanic’s and materialmen’s liens.
Strong Academic Credentials
Misha earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. During his time at UHLC, he served as an editor on the Houston Journal of International Law, competed as a member of the nationally recognized UHLC moot court team, and served as student president for the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. While in law school, Misha also clerked year-round for a well-known litigation boutique specializing in large-loss subrogation recovery actions and catastrophic liability defense.
Misha received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. While at the University of Texas, Misha played on the men’s club soccer team and was a member of various Greek organizations.
Professional Recognition and Pro Bono Efforts
Misha has been named as a “One to Watch” in Construction Law and Commercial Litigation by Best Lawyers.
Misha serves on the board of the Houston Mariner’s Club and the Houston Maritime Center (formerly the Houston Maritime Museum). He is also an active member in the Garland Walker American Inn of Court.
Misha is a coach and program director for the University of Houston Law Center’s John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Team.
Misha is also part of the Hague Convention Attorney Network, an all-volunteer national attorney network maintained by the U.S. Department of State, which assists in the civil aspects of international child abduction. Network attorneys represent applicant-parents in incoming Hague Convention return and access cases in the United States on a pro bono or reduced-fee basis.
Personal
Misha was raised in San Antonio, Texas. He and his wife enjoy traveling and outdoor activities with their two rescue dogs, Bear and Sully. He is also an avid Longhorns fan and still plays competitive soccer, albeit at a much slower pace than in his glory days.
